What this edition is willing to say

Nightlife Report is a Los Angeles desk for nightlife, fashion, and film, written for adults. The first web edition does not pretend to be a recovered archive. There is no inherited volume number from a print ancestor. This is Vol. I, No. 1.

The field notes in this edition are composites. Each one says so at the top. They describe patterns of looking. They do not describe a single booked room, a single guest, or a conversation that happened on a date. They contain no quotations. A quotation will appear in a later piece only if a person said the words and agreed to the attribution.

The desk will not invent a fact in order to sound reported. A published video keeps the title it was published under. If a public URL does not exist, the picture is marked pending. Devotion is pending. This edition will not guess an ID for it.

The editor, Anthony Perlas, also books studio work as LILLITH. That is a conflict. It is printed on the masthead and again on the Studio page. News pages do not carry an invitation to buy the work. A reader who wants the commercial desk uses the Studio page. A reader who wants to correct the paper uses the press desk.

The tone this paper is willing to keep is a seeker’s tone. The job is to notice how a night is built: the door, the clothes, the picture people think they are in, the morning that edits it. The job is not a scandal sheet and not a brochure. Adults 21 and over are the audience. Rooms that are not adult rooms are outside the assignment.

The paper can decline a tip without explaining itself into a feud. Corrections, when they exist, will be dated on the corrections page. None are filed on this issue.
